Envious netizens accuse Constance Song of doctoring Instagram pic with Beckham
Don't hate me, says actress Constance Song, for her repeated encounters with former football star
Jealous netizens have accused her of doctoring her pictures.
Even her friends call her in mock anger, demanding "answers".
All this is the result of her photos with one man - David Beckham.
Two weeks ago, local actress Constance Song was the subject of envy once again when she posted a photo with the retired football star on Instagram.
The former Manchester United midfielder was in town for a football clinic that benefits groups including SportsCare Singapore, Special Olympics, Deaf Sports Association (Singapore) and Bedok Youth Society for the Disabled.
Song, 39, had been invited to the event, which was a lead-up to Sands for Singapore Festival, a local fundraiser.
This is in fact the fourth time they've met, Song said.
She joked: "People are just so jealous of me, they ask if my pictures are fake.
"Some of my friends phone me and say they are so angry, they don't want to speak to me any more and that next time I meet David, I better call them.
"Sorry guys, I wish I could share my happiness."
Calling Beckham a "very nice person", she said the 39-year-old is "extremely humble and has no airs at all".
"I'm quite impressed by him. I also consider myself very lucky to meet him this often.
"He recognises me now because we've met quite a few times and that's nice."
Her celebrity brushes began in 2006, when she travelled to Germany with friends to watch the World Cup finals.
During a stop-over in London, the group ate at (Japanese-South American fusion restaurant) Nobu.
Song said: "I spotted a man I didn't recognise at first and I remember going 'Wah, so handsome!'.
"Then the woman beside him turned around and I realised it was his wife Victoria Beckham.
"They make a very good-looking couple."
While she didn't ask for a picture then, she did when she met him again in Singapore last July.
They were at Marina Bay Sands' Art of Shopping initiative, where Song had been invited by a friend.
At the event, Beckham contributed an autographed jersey from football club Paris St Germain.
WANTED HER CAMERA
Two months later, she was having dinner with friends when she ran into him in a Japanese restaurant during the Singapore Grand Prix.
Most recently, at their fourth meeting two weeks ago, he was so taken by her Wi-Fi enabled camera he wanted one immediately.
Said Song: "He was very impressed by my Sony camera which works on Wi-Fi and asked me 'Where did you get it?'.
"He immediately told his assistant to go buy it for him."
But Song maintains that she keeps calm despite his celebrity status.
"I don't behave like a crazy person in front of him. I'm more cool and in turn (we have a nice conversation).
"He will always speak affectionately about his children."
At their last meeting, Song gave the father of four her name card and invited him to her restaurant, BAM! Tapas-Sake Bar.
"I told him that I would close my restaurant for him to eat there and he agreed."
Song then revealed that Beckham is not the only British footballer she has met.
"Actually last month, I also met (former Manchester United centre-back) Rio Ferdinand when he was here for a Samsung event," she said.
"I haven't posted the picture that I took with him, in case people say I 'hao lian' (show-off in Hokkien).
"One week one (soccer star)."

When stars get starstruck
ACTRESS YVONNE LIM
Last month, she ran after Hollywood star George Clooney at a promotional event for luxury watchmaker Omega in Shanghai.
Both are ambassadors for the brand.
There was a funny story behind their meeting, Lim said. Clooney was trying to make a quick exit because he was swarmed by fans asking for pictures.
She added: "The public relations girl said, 'Yvonne, run! We have to chase after him!'
"It was funny because it was quite dramatic... my gown got caught in my heels, my heels were falling off.
"We managed to stop him and the first words out of my mouth were 'I had to chase after you'," Lim said.
In 2010, Lim was similarly starstruck by Australian actress Nicole Kidman.
Lim, who met the Omega ambassador in Beijing, said: "She looks as though she just stepped out of the movie screen.
"She's so tall and her skin is so radiant. She's also very friendly. When we were introduced by the Omega reps, she said, 'Hey sister'."

MISS UNIVERSE SINGAPORE 2009 RACHEL KUM
This local personality has probably met the most foreign stars, if her Instagram account is anything to go by.
Kum has partied with the likes of Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler, US rapper Flo Rida and US actors such as Big Bang Theory's Johnny Galecki and Entourage's Jeremy Piven.
Her captions run the gamut of "Another epic night with Steven Tyler... Party like a rock star" and "Even Flo Rida was impressed by the local food!"
HOST-MODEL JADE SEAH
Last week, she posted a snap on Instagram that garnered close to 1,500 likes.
Seah had taken a picture with Australian actor Hugh Jackman five years ago in Sydney, when she interviewed him for X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009).
She told The New Paper: "That was a total fangirl moment for me. I'm a huge fan of Hugh, but I still didn't expect to be so nervous and giggly in front of him.
"He's gorgeous, super tall and was very buff then as he had just finished filming the movie. I asked him to sign my press nametag."
She added: "Not all stars will let you take pictures, especially those who are in a bad mood. Hugh was so nice and chill."
