Movie Review: Last Days In The Desert (M18)
The simplest of films can be the most meaningful.
This historical drama is stripped bare to its essentials and dramatises the temptation of Jesus Christ with a straightforward plot and bite-sized cast.
Yet it offers plenty of intrigue, especially with Ewan McGregor playing both Jesus and the Devil. He brings his charm to both roles, making their conversations intriguing.
Ciaran Hinds and Tye Sheridan add another layer to the story with their loving yet tense father-son relationship.
The film does not feel like it gives sufficient exploration of the temptation of Christ, but there is no denying the deep spirituality and thought-provoking nature of it.
Rating: 3/5
