Movie Review: Trolls (PG)
Think Smurfs, but louder, more colourful, and happier.
The Trolls are essentially rays of joy, happy because of their ability to sing, dance, and party. Then there are Bergens, ogre-like monsters who cannot sing, dance or party, and are hence eternally unhappy. Their only way to happiness is to eat a Troll.
When Princess Poppy's (Anna Kendrick) friends are captured by a Bergen, she must set out to save them. She is joined by the grumpy Branch (Justin Timberlake), who sticks out from the other Trolls due to his introverted nature.
Trolls lacks the depth of Pixar films, but that isn't to say it won't find its way into your heart anyway.
With its simplistic storyline and charming characters, set in a psychedelically colourful world, Trolls is an unexpectedly enjoyable animation that will attract children and adults alike.
Verdict: 4/5
