Laneway Festival: Where elaborate outfits and strange band names prevail
Laneway Festival, which took place over the weekend at Gardens By The Bay, is known by many to be the festival where hipsters congregate.
And well, based on our pilgrimage to the festival this year, that assumption is a fair one.
Thankfully, the festival's sixth year proved that the music was better than ever with acts such as Grimes, Flume, The Internet and Thundercat thrilling festivalgoers across Saturday (Jan 30).
Fortunately, the offensive native American headdresses were rightfully stashed away at the back of the closet at home, though a few flower headbands were spotted.
For outfits this year, it seemed that a memo was sent out. What prevailed was a "uniform" for women that comprised a pair of tiny shorts and a tank-top with wide armhole.
There were, however, some who stood out. This year, it was clear that singer Grimes was the fashion muse for many.
The New Paper spoke to two festival goers who were clearly channeling Grimes' unique look.
Of course, fashion apart, the music is the main attraction of the festival.
And many might be inspired to start a band after watching some of the great acts on stage.
The New Paper came up with its own Band Name Generator to inspire festival goers to start their own music act.
Could Gorilla Love Monkey be the next "it" band?
