Twenty One Pilots versus Singapore food
Who knew how they would react? Would they love it, hate it, run out of the room screaming?
Well, of the five local treats we asked Twenty One Pilots to try, one snack proved particular popular.
The US alternative music duo performed in Singapore for the first time on July 16.
But before they hit the stage at the Suntec Singapore Convention Centre, we asked them to get a bit closer to the Singapore experience by trying out some local teatime delights.
Sadly for this taste test held at Pan Pacific Singapore singer-songwriter Tyler Joseph, revealed he was recovering from a throat infection, so he gamely took on the role of host while drummer Josh Dun dug into coffee shop favourites such as kaya toast, curry puff, chee kueh, teh tarik and of course – kopi o.
Dun had told The New Paper that he would love to try the "good, local coffee" in Singapore in an earlier phone interview.
However, it wasn't the local coffee that left him wanting more.
"The curry puff is probably my favourite choice," said Dun.
"I think it's a great blend of ingredients. There's chicken, some potatoes and curry in there."
Joseph found the curry puff's design rather fascinating.
"It's even got a handle there," he pointed to the puff's crimped crust.
Could we have started something here? Will Twenty One Pilots be hitting a coffee shop near you?
