School of frock: Fright Night
There must have been something contagious in the air last week, which is why we were beset with an epidemic of frightful fashion
ALICIA KEYS (C-)
BET Awards in Los Angeles
Jumpsuit: Not known
Keys is taking her whole no make-up, movement very seriously. But it looks like she just stepped out of the shower - with hair towel and bathrobe - and straight onto the red carpet, no?
DEE HSU (D)
Golden Melody Awards in Taipei, Taiwan
Gown: Gucci
She's certainly a brave soul for daring to take on this gaudy, tiered tragedy. The only explanation has to be Dutch courage.
A-MEI (D)
Golden Melody Awards in Taipei, Taiwan
Dress: Balmain
A-mei is obviously getting her Lady Gaga on, but who said it worked the first time round? Simply the stuff of nightmares.
KYLIE MINOGUE (A-)
Absolutely fabulous: The Movie premiere in London
Gown: Roberto Cavalli
You can't go wrong doing lady in red, and Minogue has always been one of my favourite ladies. Absolutely fabulous indeed.
MARIAH CAREY (F)
1 OAK nightclub DJ set in Las Vegas
Outfit: Not known
Shoes: Christian Louboutin
Now this is a total bummer. Carey left home without her pants, but we really can do without the show of, um, cheekiness. Her thirsty explosion of lace, leather, and fishnet is just off the charts. Put it all away, Mimi.
WHO WORE IT BETTER?
RACHEL WEISZ VS GILLIAN CHUNG
The Lobster premiere at the New York Film Festival in New York City, Sept 27 2015
Golden Melody Awards in Taipei, Taiwan, June 25
This is such a great sequined patterned frock by Marc Jacobs, with both Weisz and Chung working it marvelously. Weisz has the slight edge - only because the whole thing loses its freshness when taken out for a spin nine months later, making Chung almost three whole seasons/collections behind.
