Duke the dog elected new mayor in US town
Duke the seven-year-old dog won the elections held last Thursday in tiny Cormorant town in Minnesota.
"He won by a landslide," said Tricia Maloney, a resident of the town.
"He's used to coming to the pub and getting some burgers and some fries or something."
The 12 people who live in Cormorant all paid US$1 (S$1.25) to vote. The proceeds went to a fundraiser.
"Poor Richard Sherbrook. He owns the Cormorant store and didn't even have half as many votes as Duke did," Maloney said.
After winning, Duke had a five-hour grooming session, received a brand new outfit and began his Mayorly duties by walking around town to meet his residents.
When interviewed, the newly appointed Mayor was rather quiet though. Guess he's all bark and no bite.
