School of frock: High-fashion Action
With all the high-fashion action in Paris and London coming at us, it's nice to end the week feeling satiated
CAREY MULLIGAN (A-)
SUFFRAGETTE PREMIERE AT THE LONDON FILM FESTIVAL
Dress: Chanel
Shoes: Salvatore Ferragamo
PHOTO: AFPThe new mum's twee, fuss-free red carpet MO usually bores me to bits. But this frilly, quilted patterned lavender-grey frilly number with flared sleeves and hem veers so wildly out of her comfort zone, I strangely find myself delighting in the details.
The heels are still a snooze though. Baby steps.
JANELLE MONAE (B+)
CHANEL 2016 SPRING/SUMMER READY-TO-WEAR COLLECTION FASHION SHOW IN PARIS
Dress and shoes: Chanel

It should be obvious by now that I love ruffles and I don't care who knows it.
Monae is serving up fashion week fabulosity, people. This is what every celeb in the front row should aspire to.
RIHANNA (B+)
CHRISTIAN DIOR 2016 SPRING/SUMMER READY-TO-WEAR COLLECTION FASHION SHOW IN PARIS
Coat and shoes: Christian Dior

This ensemble is downright absurd but she is S-E-L-L-I-N-G it. Thankfully, the sum of its bad parts - Foam pad cape! Giant pocket! Knitted neckline! Dominatrix boots! - is not greater than the whole, and that's the (rare) genius of Rihanna.
Don't try this at home though.

THE GIRLFRIEND EXPERIENCE PHOTOCALL IN CANNES, FRANCE
Top and skirt: Emanuel Ungaro
Shoes: Christian Louboutin

Seriously, that polka-dot skirt is to die for. Overall, a supercute outfit I would totally wear every day for the rest of my life.
SALMA HAYEK (D)
GIAMBATTISTA VALLI 2016 SPRING/SUMMER READY-TO-WEAR COLLECTION FASHION SHOW IN PARIS
Dress: Giambattista Valli
PHOTO: AFP
Can we all just agree that D-cups, high ruffled necklines and puffy shoulder padding will never be friends and just let them go their own way?
Hayek needs to break up with dresses like this once and for all.

Cover the head, and maybe that retro coral floral creation is still acceptable. But add those ageing tight curls in the equation and we're talking catastrophe. Who can concentrate on anything else?!
WHO WORE IT BETTER?
ALICE EVE VS MERYL STREEP
I'm sure she must've heard this a thousand times, but the winner is... Meryl Streep! The Hollywood legend is 66 and naturally not in the greatest shape.
Eve is half her age and best known for playing bombshells in her movies. Yet, there is no competition here.
Interesting how the mod-style Marni colour-block frock looks so youthful, bold and fresh on Streep, but is the exact opposite on her rival. The only thing Eve should be feeling after this is red hot shame.

SUFFRAGETTE PHOTOCALL AT THE LONDON FILM FESTIVAL IN LONDON, OCT 7
MOST IMPROVED: KIRSTEN DUNST
The woman really loves her leather, doesn't she? Unfortunately, the results have been hit-and-miss.
Dunst's dismal black version is instantly forgettable, while the edgy-luxe olive green separates are a tenfold improvement in terms of colour, fit and chicness.

AMERICAN HORROR STORY: HOTEL PREMIERE IN LOS ANGELES
Suit: Not known
So I'm not a fan of the pompadour or the buttoned-up double-breasted look, but that doesn't lessen my general enjoyment of such a dreamy specimen and that interesting pop of purple.
"You know that saying before you leave the house you should take off one accessory? Well, I do that and then put like 17 more."
