From reel to real chemistry for Aloysius Pang and Carrie Wong?
They are local TV's most prominent rising stars.
And they play a couple on screen for the first time.
Far from feeling shy, Carrie Wong and Aloysius Pang describe acting opposite each other as "comfortable and nice".
In new drama Life - Fear Not, newcomer Wong plays Mei Gui, a depressed woman who imagines she is a police officer who goes around arresting people.
She attempts to arrest Dao Ren (Pang) for peddling but they eventually fall for each other.
The 120-episode Channel 8 drama will premiere on Oct 19 at 7.30pm.
Wong told The New Paper: "Before this drama, I didn't know him personally, so I thought it would be awkward.
"Instead, we had a lot of chemistry right from the start and it's very comfortable working with him.
"I don't have to discuss my lines with him beforehand but he can reciprocate my lines on set very smoothly."
The 21-year-old has been in showbiz for only a year but has already bagged the Top 10 Most Popular Female Artiste title at the annual Star Awards in April.
Touted as one of Caldecott Hill's most promising rookies, Wong was also nominated for Best Newcomer and Best Supporting Actress at the same awards ceremony.
She lost the Best Newcomer title to Pang, 25, who sang praises of her.
He told TNP: "There's definitely sparks between us on set. It's very comfortable and thrilling acting with her.
"Carrie is very talented. She entered this industry later than me but she can get into her role very naturally. I don't think I could have done it as well as her.
"I admire her, she is very good."
SKIT
Both rising rookies were speaking on the set of the drama, where the cast got into their roles and put on a skit for the local media present.
Besides Pang and Wong, the show, which centres on Zhuang Shui Qing (Chen Shu Cheng) and the traditional inn that he owns, also stars Elvin Ng, Felicia Chin, Zhang Yao Dong, Jeffrey Xu and Bonnie Loo.
When asked if Pang is someone she would date in real life, Wong, who is 1.74m-tall, laughed and said: "Height-wise, he makes the cut as he is taller than me.
"He is also very mature and is someone whom I can depend on as he does a lot of financial planning.
"Well, we have filmed together for just two weeks now, so it is too early to tell.
"Maybe in future."
