Del Toro in talks for villain role
Is Benicio Del Toro going to the dark side?
The Oscar winner has reportedly been offered a role as the villain in Star Wars: Episode VIII.
According to Variety, a deal is still far away from coming together and who exactly Del Toro will be playing is unknown but insiders say Disney and Lucasfilm were going after A-list talents for the role. The studio also met Joaquin Phoenix for the part.
Del Toro was previously considered for the bad guy in another major franchise - Khan in Star Trek Into Darkness - which eventually went to Benedict Cumberbatch.
