Movie Review: Mr Unbelievable (PG)
No vegetables were stunned in the making of this local movie.
Instead, we have the story of passe singer Eric Kwek (Chen Tianwen), who adds English lyrics to Chinese songs, despite strong objections from his family and friends.
Banking on the success of the Unbelievable music video released earlier this year, the big-screen spin-off retains the cheesy style the viral clip is known for, complete with catchy old Hokkien songs and retro 80s outfits.
Chen's acting is convincing as the arrogant Kwek, while Jaime Teo's portrayal of his childhood love is natural and refreshing.
It's a pity that Mr Unbelievable is hindered by a thin plot, and relies on slapstick humour, making it utterly forgettable.
