Leak disrupts water supply in Eunos
For 17 years, she has made herself a cup of coffee before going to work every morning. Yesterday, she could not because there was no water supply.
The 48-year-old teacher, who wanted to be known only as Ms Sereneh, told The New Paper: "At 6am, my husband went to bathe and realised there was no water."
Ms Sereneh, who is seven months pregnant, lives in Block 12, Eunos Crescent, one of several blocks hit by a disruption in water supply.
"I have morning sickness," she said. "Thankfully, I didn't throw up this morning."
But she had to forgo her morning shower.
She said:
"I went to work feeling sticky and uncomfortable.
"I felt self-conscious at work the whole day and it was horrible."
At around 8am, national water agency PUB delivered bags of water (above).
Another affected resident, housewife Normaliza Ja'afar, who lives in Block 15, had trouble getting her children ready for school.
No water: Did you pay the bill on time?
The 39-year-old mother of four told TNP: "My daughter had shampoo in her hair and told me there was no more water.
"I was shocked and even asked my husband if he had paid the bill on time."
A PUB spokesman said there was a water main leak at Eunos Avenue 8A.
"To facilitate repair works, the water main was isolated and water into the area was supplied through a smaller alternate feed. Water supply to most of the affected residents was restored at about 11am."
