WATCH: Tow truck lands on side in Bartley Road accident
For almost an hour yesterday, Mr Mohamad Ismail and his colleague, Mr Mohammad Irwan Masop, both 35, helped to direct traffic around an accident involving a Hyundai Tucson and a tow truck.
Traffic was stuck after both vehicles collided at the junction of Upper Serangoon Road and Bartley Roadin the direction of Braddell Road.
The tow truck then landed on its side.
DUTY TO HELP
Mr Mohamad, a pest control officer, said: "We just felt that it was our duty to help out."
The duo were travelling along Bartley Road behind the tow truck driver when the accident happened.
They immediately got out to check on both drivers and to see how they could help.
The driver of the tow truck was able to get out of his truck by himself.
Mr Irwan said: "We approached the driver of the Hyundai to see if he was okay.
"We called for an ambulance and the police after he complained of chest pain and pain in his right hand."
A Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) spokesman said it dispatched an ambulance to the scene after receiving a call at around 10.50am.
The police said a 39-year-old man was taken conscious to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
When The New Paper visited the scene at about 11.20am, fluid was seen leaking from the undercarriage of the tow truck.
