Car collides with bus in Eunos during morning rush hour
Car crashes into a bus at Eunos Link
The red Honda crashed through the fence of a road divider into oncoming traffic.
It then cut across four lanes before colliding with a bus full of passengers.
The impact threw the battered car over the kerb in reverse, and it finally came to a stop with just its front wheels on the road.
Fortunately, no one was injured in the accident yesterday between the car and an SBS Transit bus service 51 along Eunos Link in the direction of Hougang Avenue 3 at around 7.30am.
The front of the Honda was badly damaged and its front bumper was ripped off.
The double-decker bus was heading towards Hougang Central bus interchange when the collision occurred.
The windscreen of the bus was smashed, while sections of the fence of the road divider were ripped off.
The bus passengers had to alight and take the next service, The Straits Times reported.
The crash and the ensuing commotion attracted the attention of nearby residents, including student Mandez Siow, 16, who lives in Block 301, Ubi Avenue 1.
Mandez told The New Paper that he heard a loud crash from his fourth-storey home and went downstairs to see what had happened.
He said: "The (car) driver looked quite angry and he was shouting.
"He didn't look injured, but he was lying on the ground while the police were interviewing him."
Shin Min Daily News reported that the 38-year-old driver managed to free himself from his wrecked car, but refused help from passers-by.
The police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) were alerted to the accident at around 7.30am.
SCDF sent an ambulance to the accident scene, which was near the junction of Eunos Link and Ubi Avenue 2.
An SCDF spokesman told TNP that paramedics assessed the driver before handing him over to the police.
The Straits Times also reported that the driver shoved the SCDF officers and had to be restrained by three paramedics.
Police told TNP that the driver was arrested for using criminal force against a public servant.
No injuries were reported and investigations are ongoing.
TRAFFIC JAM
A shopkeeper, who wanted to be known only as Mr Mah, 68, told TNP that the accident caused a bad traffic jam.
As a result, his usual 10-minute journey from his Bedok home to his workplace in Ubi Avenue 1 took more than half an hour.
Marketing executive Won Hui Bo, 24, was in a bus on his way to work when he passed by the accident scene.
He told TNP that three of the road's four lanes were affected by debris from the road divider fence and the car.
Mr Won said: "The driver was on a stretcher, and he was gesturing and pointing.
"He was also shouting and I could even hear his voice from the bus I was on."
