Cobbler jailed for having sex with goddaughter, 13
A man was jailed 14 years, on Wednesday (May 27), and ordered to be given 14 strokes of the cane for having sex with his goddaughter, 13.
Terence Ng Kean Meng, 43, a cobbler, had pleaded guilty to committing statutory rape and digitally penetrating the girl who cannot be named due to a gag order.
Ng first met the victim when she was loitering around his makeshift cobbler stall in October 2013.
He found out she had run away from home and he took her back to her flat. He offered to care for her and to be her godfather.
Her parents agreed.
But Ng had consensual sex with her three times between October and December 2013. He also digitally penetrated her in October.
It is an offence to have sex with someone under 16.
