Lorries collide along SLE, no one hurt
Taxi driver Stephen Tan was driving a passenger to the zoo when he saw what he thought was a yellow CityCab taxi crushed between two large lorries along the Seletar Expressway (SLE).
The 56-year-old told The New Paper: "I was shocked. My customer was saying that the driver (of the taxi) must have died."
At 11.38am yesterday, the police were alerted to an accident involving a blue Malaysian-registered lorry and a white roadworks lorry along the SLE towards the Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE).
When TNP arrived at the scene, there was a 5m-long section of skid marks leading to the blue lorry.
The front of the lorry was badly dented, especially on its left side, and its windscreen was dislodged.
A large yellow shock absorber at the rear of the roadworks lorry was completely crumpled. The shock absorber was what Mr Tan had thought was a taxi.
No injuries were reported.
The driver of the roadworks lorry, Mr Alamin Rahaman, 39, claimed that the blue lorry hit his vehicle from behind after he had stopped at the side of the highway to do roadworks.
When approached by TNP, the driver of the blue lorry declined to comment. Both trucks were towed away at around 1.15pm.
"The most important thing is that no one was hurt," said Mr Tan when he later found out it was a shock absorber.
