Trivelis residents upset over their new DBSS homes
When My Kenny Cheng, 29, moved into his three-room unit at Trivelis, a Design, Build and Sell Scheme property in Clementi, in March, he thought he had found his dream home.
But that dream soon turned into a nightmare as Mr Cheng began finding fault after fault with the unit.
"Everything looked perfect at first glance but when you start to look closer, there are a lot of problems."
Mr Cheng is one of over 200 Trivelis residents who turned up for a two-hour closed-door dialogue session with the Trivelis Residents Working Committee this evening (May 14).
Since residents first began moving into the 888 units there in January, close to half have been plagued with issues like shattered glass shower doors, protruding floor boards and cupboards with no drawers.
They are blaming the developer, EL Development (ELD), for the substandard furnishings and are upset at ELD's slow response to their complaints.
The residents' MP, Ms Sim Ann, also attended the session and has been working closely with the committee to address the residents' concerns.
She told reporters: "Right from day one, when residents started moving in, we realised that there were quite a number of issues that residents felt disappointed by.
"Having visited many of their homes, I feel that many of them have a point."
ELD did not send any representatives to the session.
Residents' complaints included rusty lift doors, rats infestation, frequent flooding of corridors and dimly-lit corridors.
