Woman gets 5 years' jail for stabbing man
She went to his flat, wanting to settle a score.
But Mr Goh Tee Kuan, 43, was not at his Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3 home when Linda Leong Sok Koon went there with her friend, Ms Goh San Yen, at about 6pm on July 25 this year.
Leong, 43, and Mr Goh are acquaintances.
Leong returned two more times.
When Mr Goh answered the door at about 8pm and invited both women in, Leong attacked him.
She stabbed Mr Goh with a knife twice - once in the chest and another time in the stomach.
Yesterday, Leong was sentenced to five years' jail for voluntarily causing hurt by using a weapon.
District Judge Salina Ishak said she agreed with the prosecution's view that Leong acted with significant premeditation.
She had armed herself with a knife - measuring 27cm with a 15.5cm blade - and targeted vulnerable parts of Mr Goh's body.
He survived the ordeal.
Mr Goh underwent surgery for the stab wounds and a collapsed right lung and was hospitalised for about two weeks.
Court documents state that Leong, who suffers from Anti-Social Personality Disorder, was upset with Mr Goh for bad-mouthing her and Ms Goh, 42.
But yesterday in court, Leong said there was more to it and "it takes two hands to clap".
She said: "He (Mr Goh) punched my nose two months ago. He scolded my family."
Leong began crying before she was sentenced by the judge.
She later requested to make a telephone call to her father.
Leong has a criminal record dating back to 1987.
In 2005, she was sentenced to 5 years of corrective training for setting fire to 12 motorcycles.
Her motive then was also revenge.
