All you need to know about the $1.99 billion depot
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) recently awarded a contract valued at a jaw-dropping sum of $1.99 billion for the building of the East Coast Integrated Depot and its tunnels.
What's so special about this depot?
It'll be the world's first four-in-one depot servicing three different rail lines and buses, LTA said in a press release on Monday (March 21).

The depot is slated to be completed in 2024.
The contract was awarded to Korea-based contractor GS Engineering & Construction Corporation, which was previously involved in the building of the Gali Batu Depot on the Downtown Line.
Gali Batu Depot was built at a cost of about $410 million and started operations last year. It is Singapore’s sixth rail depot.
