Dai Xiangyu suddenly married
Actor Dai Xiangyu, formerly known as Dai Yangtian, has got married.
That's right, the 31-year-old China-born heart-throb who shot to fame in Singapore after starring in the 2008 Channel 8 hit drama The Little Nyonya, is officially off the market.
And who's the lucky bride?
China actress Chen Zihan, whom he met on the set of Chinese drama Pearl Earrings in 2014.
They have been dating for about a year and registered their marriage today.
Chen, 38, has also starred in TV dramas like The Return Of The Condor Heroes and Madame White Snake.
He told the media over the phone from Beijing in Mandarin: "She's a girl whom everyone thinks is sexy, but she's not. It's because of her appearances and her roles (on screen). She's actually very cute.
"We feel that the time has come for us to be married."
He denied that it's a shotgun marriage and added that he hopes to have two children, a boy and a girl, in the future.
Dai, who proposed to Chen just yesterday, said: "I was quite confident that she would say yes."
He added: "She was so moved she cried. I was moved too but I had to finish what I had to say, so I couldn't get too emotional."
It's been a "hectic" past two days for the couple, especially since the proposal and marriage registration were back to back.
He said there'll be a proper wedding ceremony in December held in his home country, where he has been pursuing his acting career since leaving Singapore for Shanghai in 2011.
"I think it'll be my family and friends flying over from Singapore to China for (the wedding)."
