He filmed 18 videos of women changing
Sales assistant put mobile phone on floor outside fitting room
He could have continued with his crime spree - taking upskirt and fitting room footage of women.
But it all ended for Tan Jun Yu when he was caught on May 30, 2014, by the woman he was filming.
Tan, a former Royal Sporting House sales assistant at Bishan Junction 8 shopping centre, was sentenced yesterday to 30 months' probation.
He pleaded guilty to five counts of insulting the modesty of a woman, which carries a maximum penalty of one year's jail and a fine.
Court documents revealed there were 18 occasions when Tan, now 21, had recorded video clips of women changing inside the Royal Sporting House fitting rooms by standing outside the rooms.
Most of the victims were unknown to him.
On May 30, 2014, Tan placed his mobile phone on the floor outside a fitting room in which a 37-year-old woman was trying on some clothes.
The mobile phone was aimed at the gap between the floor and the bottom of the fitting room door.
CALLED POLICE
At around 7.15pm, the woman called the police and said: "The male staff took a video of me. I already managed to get hold of the staff's handphone, and he is aware I am calling the police."
Investigations revealed that on two occasions in March 2013, Tan filmed a 21-year-old woman taking a shower in a chalet toilet.
He had placed his mobile phone behind a pot at the sink and set it in video recording mode.

In mitigation, Tan's lawyer, Mr Chia Boon Teck, said his client has since received psychiatric treatment.
Mr Chia said: "The accused (Tan) is young and self-driven, and has plans to work in the finance industry in the future. An imprisonment term would destroy him."
