On the hunt for unique beauties
TNP Street Hunt team will be looking out for girls with a special aura
Tomorrow, the first batch of girls to make it to Round 2 of The New Paper New Face will be picked.
The New Face 2014 girls will hit Bugis+ and Bugis Junction from 1pm to pick out candidates they think are good enough to make the cut.
These girls will skip the walk-in audition to be held next week and go straight to Round 2, the closed-door auditions.
And girls who get picked seem to have had luck in advancing into the finals.
Last year, Aisyah Salleh, Chanel Lyn and Aurelia Ng were three of the nine girls hand-picked from the crowd.
Aisyah, 23, a student at Kaplan Higher Education Academy, said the Street Hunt is an opportunity for the previous batch and New Face team to look out for girls who have something special or unique about them.
"It might not be just a pretty face.
"If you have unique facial features, or are tall, or possess a special kind of aura, we would definitely approach you. My advice, if you want to be spotted, is to not be overdressed," she said.
"Last year, when the team was concluding their hunt in a restaurant and I happened to walk past, I was lucky enough to be approached. I was in an oversized shirt and my hair was tied in a high ponytail."
Lyn, 24, a tourism and events management student at Murdoch University, said: "The Street Hunt is all about taking that leap forward to get what you really want. And that's exactly what I did.
"I knew I wanted to be in the competition. So I went down to (Bugis+), filled in my details, got my shot taken and that was that.
"Even if you don't get in, I think you can feel yourself get braver.
"You just keep trying if it's really what you're aiming for, and you'll get there."
FUN
Said Lyn: "I had fun just being in a place where so many girls had the same goals and dreams.
"The finale was the most exciting because we were all just praying hard that we don't fall in front of everyone. But it's all in good fun."
For Ng, 22, an undergraduate studying accounting and finance at the University of London, it is important not to put up a front.
"Everyone is unique. Be bold and confident. Don't be shy because it will show in your body language," she said.
"Wear minimal make-up to show off your natural beauty and dress appropriately for the audition.
"Remember, less is more."
