Man jailed, caned for stabbing wife’s lover with metal file
He claimed he just wanted to speak to his wife's lover.
But when 41-year-old Chen Jianghong met his estranged wife at Admiralty MRT Station on Nov 10 last year, he was masking a deadly intention.
Chen, a Chinese national, planned to lure Ms Huang Dan's boyfriend and stab him with a 15cm-long sharpened metal file.
When Ms Huang's lover, Chinese national Deng Yiwei, arrived at the void deck of Block 677, Woodlands Avenue 6, at around 4.30pm, Chen chased him and later stabbed him several times at a nearby badminton court.
Yesterday, Chen, a former aircraft technician, was sentenced to 28 months' jail and three strokes of the cane for stabbing Mr Deng, 31.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Ryan David Lim told the court there was "a degree of premeditation" in the case.
Chen's marriage lasted from 2008 to 2014, when the couple began having problems.
In April 2015, Ms Huang, 31, left the apartment she shared with Chen to be with Mr Deng, a factory operator.
On Oct 1 last year, when Chen met Ms Huang and her lover, he threatened Deng, saying in Mandarin: "The hatred of the person who steals your wife will not allow you and that person to exist together."
That day, Chen bought a metal file.

Two days later, he sharpened the metal file at work.
Chen had intended to slash Mr Deng in revenge, court papers revealed.
DPP Lim said: "There was ample time for Chen to consider and think about how to commit the offence."
When Mr Deng saw Chen take out the metal file from a plastic bag on Nov 10, he ran.
But he later stood his ground at a nearby badminton court, where Chen stabbed him several times in the abdomen.
Two witnesses separated Chen from the injured Mr Deng.
They helped Mr Deng onto a bench and gave him water while attempting to stop his bleeding.
EXTENSIVE INJURIES
DPP Lim said: "The list of injuries were quite extensive."
Mr Deng suffered several stab wounds to the upper central region of his abdomen, and lacerations and cuts to his hands and tendons in his forearm.
He was hospitalised for five days and placed on sick leave for 58 days.
Defence lawyer Foo Ho Chew said his client, who was the pillar of "emotional and financial support" for his two children and elderly parents, was in a daze a month before the attack.
Mr Foo said in mitigation: "Our client didn't run away. He stood by the victim and he regretted his actions."
The hatred of the person who steals your wife will not allow you and that person to exist together.
