Man sentenced to nine months in prison for running prostitution ring
An out of work contractor was jailed nine months yesterday for running a social escort company where girls provided sexual services.
Nicholas Kwek, 39, was convicted of procuring women for prostitution, abetting in the procurement of women, and also living off the earnings of a prostitute.
He faced 16 charges.
Kwek started the company, Baby Dolls Talent Agency, in 2011. He took out advertisements in several newspapers seeking social escorts.
At least two girls responded to these ads.
Each round of sex cost $250, and Kwek would take half of their earnings.
When he was arrested in June this year, Kwek had eight prostitutes working for him.
The girls were each given working names, such as Small Girl, Gigi and Dolly.
Kwek was also a member of a local sex forum where he paid $500 a month to advertise the services of the girls working for him.
In total, Kwek admitted to receiving $14,400 from the prostitutes.
