Photo of fireworks wins TNP National Day Photo Contest
He was inside the National Stadium enjoying the National Day Parade on Aug 9.
As it was nearing its finale, Mr Andrew Bi, 51, left his much-prized seat and headed outside.
His reason? He wanted to photograph the stunning outdoor fireworks display.
That paid off handsomely as one of the photos won him a Canon EOS M3 Kit worth $899 after he submitted it to The New Paper's National Day Photo Contest.
Mr Bi, who works as an IT manager, told TNP: "I have been to this year's previews, so I didn't mind sacrificing the end of the parade to capture the fireworks outside."

As he left the stadium just 10 minutes before the fireworks began, most of the good spots were already occupied.
He just about managed to squeeze in next to some people in front of the fountain.
Mr Bi said: "I wanted this spot because you have the fountain in the foreground and Singapore's skyline in the background.
"The couple just happened to be there."
Mr Edwin Teoh, Head of Marketing at Canon Singapore, said: "There were a great mix of beautiful and special moments captured and submitted for this competition.
"The winning photo stood out for us because it encapsulates different elements such as the colourful fireworks display, the enthralled spectators and a beautifully lit location all in a single frame."
Ten people won runners-up prizesof a Canon IXUS 175 camera worth $169.
One of the runners-up, Mr Lim Jia Xiang, 20, told TNP that he did not plan to take the photo that won him the prize.

Mr Lim, a student at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), initially wanted to take photos of the fireworks display, but he could not find a good spot outside the Sports Hub.
So he decided to take photos of the crowd instead.
"I saw the family and the mum turning towards the dad and child and just snapped the photo. The timing was just right," said Mr Lim.
Engineer Tan Jian Kai, 30, was also enjoying the parade inside the National Stadium when he came across the photo opportunity that won him a runner-up prize.

He told TNP that he was about to take an overview photo when he saw the girl with the balloon get up.
"It happened very fast. I also got the President going around in the background, so that was a nice touch," said Mr Tan.
He added: "I felt that this photo is more joyful, and I wanted photos that had more of an impact."
TNP also ran a colouring contest in our NDP special this year.
Each of the five winners will receive an ICE Chrono Electrik watch worth $300.
One of the winners, Ms Maxine Khoo, told TNP that she did most of the colouring after work. She took a couple of days to finish colouring the photo using colour pencils.
Ms Khoo, who works in the finance industry, said: "I did some research first to make sure the colours were all correct, and coloured each building individually.
"I've always liked drawing and colouring, so it was a nice way to relive my childhood."
