Qi Yuwu serves up soup for the pioneer generation
He cooked and served up a hearty meal and a heartily good time.
Jointly organised by the producers of upcoming film 1965 and Soup Restaurant, Qi Yuwu cooked for 60 members of the pioneer generation today.
It happened at Soup Resturant's Suntec City outlet.
Among those seated were his in-laws – Joanne Peh's parents.
Qi said that playing the role of a member of the pioneer generation in 1965 has given him a better appreciation for their efforts in building the country.
Also at the event was Minister of State for Trade and Industry, Teo Ser Luck. He and Qi chatted and mingled with the pioneers as the food arrived.
Qi cooked a dish of steamed egg as well as a herbal soup. The soup used a recipe from his hometown in Guangzhou, China.
Not unexpectedly, Joanne Peh also attended. She beamed as she talked about her husband's contributions to their home.
She said in Mandarin: "My husband helps out in the housework and the cooking at home. My job is just to be in charge of the tasting.
"Actually I have no idea what he puts into the soup he cooks me – I just drink it."
Qi Yuwu quipped: "She tells me that no words can describe my cooking. I mean that in a good way."
