TNP New Face contestants raise funds for charity
TNP New Face contestants volunteer in charity drive for Parkinson society
The New Paper New Face 2016 is not just about modelling, but also about giving.
Last Thursday, six of this year's finalists volunteered to join Crave Nasi Lemak & Teh Tarik's charity drive to raise funds for the Parkinson Society Singapore.
For an hour from 7pm, Sasha M and Zahra Khanum were stationed at the City Square Mall outlet, while Annika Xue Sager, Emilbiany Nenggal Intong, Hema Chandra and Jolene Poon were hard at work at the Ion Orchard outlet.
At Ion Orchard, the first customer was a friendly face.
Nanyang Technological University student Chong Yu Han, 23, is Jolene's friend.
"I had already intended to come to Ion, so I just came here to say 'hi' because I know Jolene," he told The New Paper.

Hema, a 17-year-old business management student at Nanyang Polytechnic, said: "It's the first time I'm actually serving customers and it's for a good cause so I feel very good about it."
But the process of serving food was not that easy for the girls.
Private tutor Jolene, 24, said: "I don't think it's easy, because we have to arrange the food nicely to make it much more appealing for the customers to eat."
Singer and freelance writer Sasha M, 26, added: "It was unexpectedly fun. I learnt a lot. I even learnt how to make teh tarik from the guy who is responsible for the teh tarik at Crave."
Ten per cent of the proceeds from the hour's sales went towards PSS.
Co-founder of Crave Abdul Malik Hassan, 44, said: "It's not about the selling, it's about the charity. It's to just tell people about Parkinson's and to do some good."
Emilbiany agreed, and thought it was an hour well spent, saying: "It was for a good cause, so why not?"
- The finals of The New Paper New Face 2016 will be held on Friday at Marina Square at 7.30pm.
