Two men charged for neglecting dogs
Two Singaporean men were charged yesterday for allegedly committing offences in Marchunder the Animals and Birds Act.
Low Chong Kiat, 43, faces 49 charges, while Edwin Tan Guowei, 28, faces nine.
Low is accused of abandoning dogs and failing to take reasonable steps to ensure the dogs' welfare, among other offences.
Two dogs under Low's care were found on March 16 to have suffered from corneal damage, and a broken jaw, among other injuries.
Low, an existing owner of Marine & Pet Image, also faces 28 counts of keeping dogs without licences.
Tan, an existing owner of The Animal House, is accused of neglecting his dogs' welfare at a pet farm in Pasir Ris Farmway, among other offences.
If found guilty, each could face a fine of up to $40,000 or a maximum jail sentence of two years, or both.
