Woman found face down in Marina Bay
A woman was resuscitated after she was found floating face down in the Marina Bay yesterday morning.
The authorities were tipped off by information systems manager Michael Rosch, who had been enjoying his day off with a morning walk around the bay until he spotted the unusual sight.
Mr Rosch noticed a figure in the water at about 11.20am as he was walking on the Helix Bridge towards Marina Bay Sands.
He rushed off the bridge to get a closer look, and was shocked to see that it was a woman face down and motionless in the water.
"I initially thought that she was a tourist who went down to the docks to take a picture and fell in," said Mr Rosch.
"I was shocked to learn (later) that it was a local."
The German, who lives in Singapore, immediately called the police, who arrived soon after.
NO PULSE
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) was alerted at about 11.30am and arrived on site in eight minutes.
SCDF firefighters swam out to the woman and brought her in.
The ambulance crew from Marina Bay Fire Station then performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the woman, who was not breathing and had no pulse.
She was resuscitated in the ambulance as she was rushed to the Singapore General Hospital, SCDF said.
It was not clear how the woman ended up in the water, and there has been no update on her condition.
A police spokesman told The New Paper that they are still investigating.
