Watch: New Face finalists give demo on how to personalise TNP Big Walk T-shirt
One of the biggest draws for fans of The New Paper Big Walk is the goodie bag.
And in this year's bag, one highlight is the Big Walk T-shirt from Denizen, one of the official sponsors for the Big Walk.
The top is comfortable enough for you to walk the entire 5km route in.
But if you want to stand out from the crowd, you can jazz up the Denizen tee to reflect your own personality.
We put two finalists of The New Paper New Face 2014 to the test by challenging them to create personal fashion statements using the T-shirts.
Annmarie Pang and Jessica Lim were given 30 minutes, a pair of scissors, and some needle and thread for the project.
They wasted no time getting started.
Jessica, 22, revealed that she always wanted to try modifying her clothes.
Said the student: "I never had the chance to alter my T-shirts myself, so this challenge is a good opportunity to try it.
"I didn't do any preparation, but this design was something that I've always wanted to try," she added, describing the crop top with a knotted "fringe" at the bottom.
Despite the heat from the afternoon sun, they were all smiles through the process on Tuesday.
DESIGN SEARCH
Annmarie, 22, searched for designs online before attending the challenge, but did not find anything she liked.
"But I knew that I wanted to make a crop top, as I prefer those to normal T-shirts."
You could say she is an old hand at tweaking her own clothes.
The part-time service crew at a cafe enjoys buying men's T-shirts and adjusting them to her own taste.
She said: "The cutting for men's T-shirts are straight, so I'll alter the sides of the T-shirts for a more feminine cut and for it to fit me better."
The women made full use of the 30 minutes they were given, and were still putting the finishing touches towards the end of the challenge.
Annmarie's creation was a playful sleeveless number, with cat and bird appliqués sewn on.
She gathered the ends of the shirt and tied them into a simple knot, giving it a more tailored look.
Jessica's version was a nod to Bohemian fashion, with the shirt's unique fringe being its most distinctive trait.
To achieve the look, she cut the bottom half of her T-shirt into strips and made knots with them.
She said the midriff-baring crop top was fun to create.
"I really like the way I designed it as well."
Both women said that they will be attending the Big Walk along with the other New Face finalists.
Jessica said: "I'll definitely wear this T-shirt as well, it's my own design."
The New Paper Big Walk 2014 is presented by the Singapore Turf Club and will be held on Nov 30.
