Beckham is the sexiest man alive? You're a little late, America...
In case you're not aware of what's going on across the pond in the US, David Beckham has been chosen as People magazine's Sexiest Man Alive for 2015.
Look, it says so right here on the latest cover of People:
It's certainly not a bad choice.
After all, the 40-year-old boyish good looks and out-of-this-world ability to bend the trajectory of a football according to his will have been making both men and women of all ages weak at the knees ever since he burst onto the football scene as a fresh-faced youngster with Manchester United in 1995.
But that's precisely the point – People is only just recognising what nearly the rest of the world has known for the past 20 years.
Remember the Beckham-mania that swept through Singapore when the Red Devils came to town in 2001?

Just look at all those swooning schoolgirls and admiring schoolboys from Victoria Junior College back then during Peak Beckham.
Although football (or soccer, if you're disposed to calling it such) hasn't enjoyed the same status as sports like basketball, American football or baseball in the US, it's not like Beckham has been hiding under a rock all this while.
Even if you discount his numerous sporting achievements from his time in Europe – just six English Premier League titles, a couple of FA Cups, a Champions League title and a La Liga title as well as being England captain – Beckham has certainly been avidly discussed in many other channels.
He wed former Spice Girl Victoria Adams in 1999 while his constant hairstyle changes and spiffy dress sense has seen fashion columnists dedicate a considerable number of inches to his name.
Don't forget, it was Beckham's sartorial leanings and concern about his image that brought the word metrosexual into the mainstream and kept it there ever since.
Unsurprisingly, Brand Beckham eventually landed in the modeling business before branching off into his own line of beauty and fashion products.
David Beckham doing what he does best – making women melt and causing straight men to question their sexuality.
Even if People somehow didn't read those columns or see those ads, surely they must've known about Beckham when he arrived on their shores in 2007?
Y'know, the time he actually went over to the States to play in the MLS (Major League Soccer) for the Los Angeles Galaxy after leaving Real Madrid?
That was a full eight years ago before Beckham left for one final footballing hurrah with Paris Saint-Germain in 2013.
It should be noted that before Becks was chosen, the previous 29 winners of Sexiest Man Alive title were all actors except for John F. Kennedy Jr.
Even then, the son of the former ex-US President was constantly in the news and the target of the paparazzi due to his status as a Kennedy.
Perhaps People chose Beckham now because he's got more free time on his hands to make regular appearances on talk shows such as Ellen, Jimmy Kimmel and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
People's cover cites Becks as a romantic husband and devoted dad (who vacuums too!) – quite possibly the perfect pitch to their readers who have grown up with the magazine and are probably the quintessential soccer mum.
Whatever the case, congratulations for finally discovering the appeal of David Beckham, America.
Better late than never, I guess.
