WATCH: Hotpot restaurant waiter pours boiling soup over customer and beats her
She complained about the waiter's service at the hot pot restaurant she was dining at.
Instead of an apology, she ended up badly burnt.
Ms Lin, who was eating at Mr Hot Pot in Wenzhou, China, on Monday (Aug 24), had made her dissatisfaction known to the waiter, a 17-year-old teenager named Zhu.
She wasn't happy with the amount of water in her hot pot.
CCTV footage showed that at first, Zhu walked away from Ms Lin after her complaints.
The Shanghaiist reported that later on, Ms Lin, 29, went online to complain about the restaurant on a social networking site, which had set Zhu off.
In China, online reviews make or break restaurants.
According to Mirror UK, the raging waiter then walked back to where Ms Lin was sitting with her mother and seven-year-old daughter and poured boiling soup over Ms Lin.
He then dragged her backwards and started beating her furiously.
Mail Online reported that customers and other staff leapt up to pry the waiter off Ms Lin.
The waiter struggled wildly and tried to get free from the group that had surrounded him.
Ms Lin, who had suffered from 42 per cent severe burns to her head and body, was sent to the intensive care unit.
Her condition is currently stable.
Ms Lin's mother said that when the ambulance arrived, Zhu still had a "horrible grin" on his face.
Since he is under 18 years of age, Zhu may escape being criminally charged.
