Explosion heard in Ang Mo Kio fire

Some residents were evacuated last night after a fire broke out in Block 308B, Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1.
A resident, who wanted to be known only as Madam Lim, said she could smell burned rubber from her 21st-storey flat in the block late last night.
She also saw flashes of light, she added.
The retiree in her 70s, who was standing at the void deck, said she was asked to evacuate her flat around 11pm.
Mr Richard Tan, who lives in a nearby block, said he could hear sounds of an explosion.
The New Paper understands that the fire was linked to an electrical riser between the 20th and 25th storeys of the block.
