Revamped The New Paper Classified will feature reader-friendly listings and options
On the hunt for property? Want to indulge in some retail therapy? Having trouble deciding where to eat?
The New Paper has you covered every Sunday.
If you have not already noticed, classified advertising has made a comeback in TNP since last month. The pages focus on property, dining and retail.
The change is part of a revamp of Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) Classified, which is evolving to provide a more effective platform for clients and customers.
As part of the change, SPH's newspaper classified sections, previously known as Cats Classified, will now incorporate each individual newspaper's names, such as Straits Times Classified or The New Paper Classified.
Each newspaper will feature ads and more reader-friendly listings.
For example, a home-improvement section allows readers looking for property to find related ads such as furnishing and renovation loans, household appliances or fire insurance.
Mr Tan Ooi Boon, head of SPH's Print Classified department, said: "Our aim is to bring related products and services together so that it will be a breeze for readers to find what they want."
If you still have trouble finding what you want, a Classified Concierge Service will be launched later this month to point you in the right direction.
"We, in SPH, have a huge database of advertisers," Mr Tan said. "Readers who can't seem to locate what they want can always ring or e-mail us and we will do our best to connect them to the right seller."
Advertisers have reacted positively to the changes.
Mr Gavin Ow, 33, senior manager of C&H Group, said: "There is potential in the new TNP Classified. It would definitely improve business. (Even) before the revamp, I have already received quite a number of calls. With the restructuring, I will be getting even more clients."
Mr Effande Tiptop, 31, associate director from Dennis Wee Group, said: "There are lots of property buyers who read The New Paper and the overhaul would boost the number of clients that we get."
Mrs Irene Loke, 53, an executive with the Ministry of Finance, told TNP that she often looks at the Classified ads when deciding where to go for dinner. "The change will help me save time when looking for restaurants," she said.
