Malaysian Chabor garners over 1.9 million hits on YouTube after 7 days
She had the best answer to the question "are you local?"
Seventeen-year-old Malaysian YouTuber Joyce Chu proudly answers that question with her song "Malaysia Chabor" (chabor means 'woman' in the Hokkien dialect), reported Rocket News 24.
The song and video posted on YouTube, which sees Miss Chu sing about not being Korean, has garnered over 1.9 million views after being up for just one week.
While the Malaysian singer didn’t mention that people ask her “are you local?” in her cute little production, she did mention that many people think that she’s from Korea.
Another popular Malaysian songwriter, Namewee, who is best known for his satirical lyrics especially in his 2007 production I Love My Country Negarakuku, tailor-made Malaysia Chabor for Miss Chu.
She tells Namewee that some people even think that she went to Korea for plastic surgery. Check out her photos on her Instagram account to see for yourself.
Miss Chu also tells him her story and he uses her real-life experiences as the basis for the lyrics.
This catchy tune pegged with her sweet voice is bound to get you wondering if we have found our next Asian star.
