AFF Suzuki Cup: Buy bundle tickets, enjoy TNP on-the-go
When popular teams like Juventus Football Club played friendly matches at the National Stadium recently, fans cried foul at the price of tickets.
But they are in for a treat at the upcoming ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Suzuki Cup.
The New Paper and the Football Association of Singapore (FAS) are teaming up to reward Lions' fans for their support and loyalty.
Those who purchase any one of four Group Stage Packages will be entitled to a subscription of TNP's online and mobile platforms.
Singapore will play against Thailand on Nov 23, Myanmar on Nov 26 and Malaysia on Nov 29.
The packages will enable fans to watch all three matches at the National Stadium.
Those who purchase Group Stage Packages for Cat 1 ($98) and Cat 2 ($78) will receive a three-month subscription, while Cat 3 ($58) and Cat 4 ($38) buyers receive a one-month subscription.
Loyal supporters
Singapore is co-hosting the football championship with Vietnam. The competition will run from Nov 23 to Dec 20.
Said The New Paper editor Dominic Nathan: "We wanted to find a way to give more value to fans who are loyal supporters of Singapore football.
"And what better way than to provide them with a digital subscription as long as they are ready to roar the Lions victory in all three group matches."
Those who purchase the bundle tickets can redeem their TNP digital access at FAS merchandise booths located at the stadium on match days.
The deal has struck a chord with Lions fans like Mr Deepanraj Ganesan.
Said the 20-year-old student: "It's an attractive deal for sports fans because it offers so much more than just a chance to watch the action live.
"I will be able to supplement that with previews, reviews and news that I can get from TNP, via the subscription.
"Let's just say that I've got all bases covered for the AFF Suzuki Cup."
Singapore has won the regional biennial tournament four times (1998, 2004, 2007, 2012). The nation is the defending champion since beating Thailand two years ago.
It is also the first time since 2007 that the Singapore is hosting the competition, and FAS is looking forward to welcoming fans to the Lions' new den.
Tickets prices are been set at affordable levels, with the cheapest single match ticket going at only $18.
The FAS will also be offering a special 15 per cent discount to all Singapore fans, as well as a 10 per cent early-bird discount, until Nov 20.
"It is a privilege and honour to co-host for this tournament and the ticket prices have been made affordable so that all of us can come together to celebrate the return of the Lions to the National Stadium," said FAS president Zainudin Nordin.
"Let's make the stadium reverberate with the Kallang Roar once again."
