Will a new kit bring the Lions better luck?
Just maybe, a change of kit will bring about a change in fortunes.
At least that's what Singapore vice-captain Hariss Harun is hoping for, after national team kit sponsor Nike unveiled the outfits the 25-year-old and his teammates will wear at the AFF Suzuki Cup, which kicks off next week.
V Sundramoorthy's charges are on a six-match winless run and, speaking on the sidelines of the kit launch at the Jalan Besar Stadium yesterday, Hariss said: "I can't lie, the results haven't been positive, and football is all about results.
"We are always trying our best to achieve the best results, but it just hasn't happened yet.
"Hopefully, come the Suzuki Cup, that changes. That's when it matters.
"Hopefully this new jersey will give us an edge and some luck, as well."
The Lions' new kit features a precision-fit top with side panels marked out by a reveal tape in contrasting colours, making shirt pulls by opponents more visible to referees.
Each kit is made from polyester from 16 recycled plastic bottles. The home jersey is in red (far left), with a blue streak around the collar. The colours are reversed for the away kit.
Said Nike Singapore country marketing manager Nino Priambodo: "Football is a big part of Singapore and there is such a rich history of the game here, as well as in the region.
"We are thankful for the longstanding partnership with the Football Association of Singapore and proud to continue supporting the Lions, as they represent Singapore in the largest football tournament in South-east Asia."- SAZALI ABDUL AZIZ
