Eight pupils and two teachers from Tanjong Katong Primary School (TKPS) who were on a trip to Mount Kinabalu are unaccounted for.
A 6.0-magnitude earthquake hit Sabah on Friday morning (June 5), triggering landslides and sending huge boulders tumbling down the 4,095-metre mountain’s wide granite crown, Sabah state tourism minister Masidi Manjun told AFP.
A total of 29 pupils and eight teachers from TKPS were on the trip.
A parent of a pupil on the trip, who declined to be named, said the group was on a student leaders’ trip called the Omega Challenge.
Her daughter was injured, but she does not know the extent of her injury.
