Izwan might be big in Japan, but Hassan is Supes in Thailand
Injuries may have caused him to miss out on the World Cup qualifier that saw goalkeeper Izwan Mahbud make it big in Japan as Singapore drew 0-0 with the Blue Samurai earlier this month.
But Hassan Sunny sure isn't letting that get him down, going by the praise he has received from his recent performances for Thai Premier League side Army United.
ESPN FC reported last Monday (June 22) that the Singapore goalkeeper turned in an inspired performance between the sticks to deny champions Buriram United, resulting in a goalless draw that blew the Thai title race wide open.
The 31-year-old's heroics inspired unofficial fan Instagram account armyutd to post a photo of his face superimposed on Superman's body.
Looks like Lions coach Bernd Stange is going to have a hard choice to make when Singapore face Syria in September for their next World Cup qualifier.
After the match, Hassan said: "We needed to stay compact and minimise their scoring chances. I'm glad the whole team put up a strong performance. Everyone fought so hard for this result."
