Hayley Atwell wins Marvel Dubsmash war... with a little help from Captain America
Hail Peggy Carter, Dubsmash queen of the Marvel Universe.
Ever since Hayley Atwell discovered the joy of the video miming/messaging app, the star of Marvel's Agent Carter has been having a ball hamming it up on social media.
However, Atwell's fellow secret agents over at sister show Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (AoS) — namely Clark Gregg and Chloe Bennet — decided to take on the British actress in an epic Dubsmash challenge as last weekend's San Diego Comic Con 2015 (SDCC) unfolded.
It began when Atwell posted her rendition of the Oompa Loompa song from Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory along with her co-star James D'Arcy (D'Arcy plays Tony Stark's butler Edwin Jarvis).
Gregg, better known to fans as Agent Phil Coulson, then teamed up with Bennet to issue their declaration of war to the two Brits — Rob Base & DJ EZ Rock's It Takes Two.
Accepting the challenge, Atwell laid down her beats as she and D'arcy fired a three-video salvo within the span of a day.
First up was Love Shack by the B-52s...
... quickly followed up by Taylor Swift's I Knew You Were Trouble (Goat Edition) just 16 minutes later.
Even a tiring day out at SDCC couldn't stop Atwell from completing the hat-trick. She delivered what she believed to be the coupe de grace of dubsmashing Bennett's own 2011 single Uh Oh — made when she went by her father's surname as Chloe Wang.
In between, Bennet and Gregg did Rihanna's Bitch Better Have My Money...
Even then, Team S.H.I.E.L.D. weren't done. They unleashed their secret weapon — the entire main AoS cast dubsmashing Queen's We Are The Champions. Topping the performance, Gregg in drag as Peggy Carter.
That epic move left Atwell stunned...
...and angry...
...but not for long. Atwell and D'Arcy clearly had their wheels in motion during a lull...
The four actors at the heart of the "war" even got together for a combined smash of – what else – Taylor Swift's Bad Blood.
The Brit duo then had the last laugh as they unleashed their winning move with Queen's Another One Bites the Dust — featuring none other than Captain America himself, Chris Evans.
Atwell's attached tweet read: "Mic dropped? Consider it picked up and thrown out of the ******* window..."
That, along with the use of a copy of the Cap-autographed card given to Coulson in The Avengers, left Gregg floored.
But while Gregg vowed to continue the war, Team Carter celebrated, although D'Arcy might have felt a little neglected as a result...
Your move, Team S.H.I.E.L.D.
