They want to make people more aware
TNP reader who saw dramatic fire says...
Security guard Aaron Lin, 30, knew it would not be a regular night when he heard loud explosions and then saw a massive fire during his shift at a dormitory in Jurong.
The fire occurred at a heavy vehicle workshop near the Jurong River on July 11 around 1.45am.
"With such a huge fire, I knew I had to share the story," said Mr Lin, who is a fan of The New Paper.
Mr Lin's story was published on July 13.
Another TNP reader, Mr Irwan Arsad, 41, called about a man who was climbing down a block of flats at Yishun Avenue 1 on July 12.
Mr Irwan never thought he would witness someone breaking into a flat in Singapore.
"I had just arrived home when I saw the man climbing down the opposite block," he said.
Mr Arsad, who has been reading TNP for 21 years, immediately called the paper's hotline.
ALERT
"I felt I needed to share this so that Singaporeans are aware that such things do occur in Singapore. I hope people would be more alert."
His story was published on July 13.
Mr Charanjeet Singh, 30, called TNP after his air-conditioner caught fire in his five-room flat in Woodlands Circle on July 5, causing serious damage to his home.
He said: "I wanted others to know about what happened to me, so the same thing won't happen to them.
"I hope people would be more aware that such incidents could happen."
Mr Singh's story was published on July 11.
