'Hot' NDP seats at Marina Bay
Spectators at Marina Bay floating platform will get to enjoy pre- and post-NDP performances and best view of fireworks
The 25,000 people who got tickets to watch the SG50 Jubilee National Day Parade from the Marina Bay floating platform may have got the best seats on the island.
Four large LED screens there will broadcast the live celebrations from the Padang, and a segment of the mobile column featuring 28 vehicles will drive past the Floating Platform @ Marina Bay.
It is also where the pre- and post-parade shows will be held.
The NDP 2015 Celebrations at The Float, jointly organised by the People's Association and Safra, with support from the Singapore Armed Forces Music and Drama Company, allows 25,000 more people be a part of the nation's 50th birthday celebration.
Spectators can look forward to a star-studded cast that includes local artists Tosh Zhang, Sheikh Haikel, Daphne Khoo and Shigga Shay.
The PAssionArts Community Singing Network, PAssionArts Ukulele Network and East Coast Choir and will be in the pre-parade show, with songs including local favourites like Stand Up For Singapore.
The pre-parade show will also honour the athletes and officials of Team Singapore for their performance at the recent South-east Asia Games, and the volunteers from Team Nila for their help at the Games.
Local celebrity Irene Ang, who will host the celebrations at the float, said spectators should not worry about the view from the floating platform.
FEEL THE HEAT
"We'll have one of the best views of the Black Knights, Red Lions and, most importantly, the fireworks.
"The fireworks barge is just in front of us so you get to experience the excitement up close,"she said.
Co-host Jerald Justin Koh, also known as JK, said: "You are so close, you can feel the heat when the fireworks go off (and) this will be the only place with a concert after the parade."
The 45-minute concert will have performances by director Jack Neo, singer Sezairi Sezali and ex-SKarf member Ferlyn G.
Tosh, who will perform a rendition of Rasa Sayang, said he is excited about performing with everyone.
He said: "I was here in 2011 during my national service, helping out with the celebrations.
"Now, I'm back as a performer working with the guys from the Music and Drama Company.
"It's going to be a blast."
