SG50 tributes: The good, the bad and the weird
Sure the National Day Parade, the main event of SG50, is over.
And judging by the tweets sent out last night, many people here enjoyed the SG50 festivities.
This set a new Twitter record for a one-day event in Singapore with over 230,000 tweets about #NDP2015 and all things related to the parade on Sunday (Aug 9).
This beat the previous record set during the One Direction concert in March, which had only about 100,000 tweets.
Just because the parade is over, it doesn't mean the end of celebrations - especially since many of us are still enjoying the long weekend.
So here is a list of tributes to the nation to help you keep that jubilee celebratory spirit going.
1. For the party-goers
There were many parties taking place at clubs all over Singapore so this should be a familiar sight. If you were just like this Merlion last night, call your friend and say Thank You. After all, it's good to be courteous.
2. Jedi Uncle
In Singapore, you have many aunties and uncles - from the shopkeepers to your taxi drivers.
Now, you can refer to your friendly neighbourhood Jedi Knight as Uncle.
3. Lego
Many chose to pay tribute in small ways, literally. Here is a Singaporean who used Lego to show what Singapore really means to her.
4. SG50 tuition
Tuition and Singapore Education are practically synonymous so it's no wonder that a tuition centre has leveraged on the SG50 brand to teach phonetics to kids.
D-D-Durian in P-p-pasir-ris anyone?
5. James Gunn
Foreigners, too, have been wishing Singapore a happy National day. Among them was James Gunn, best known as the director of hit Marvel flick Guardians of the Galaxy.
6. SG50 hair
Please don't try this at home - or anywhere else for that matter.
7. SG50 food
Do people really need to eat food that has some sort of SG50 indicator? This seems to be the case at supermarkets.
