Leg injury made it tough to film action scenes
Huang Xiaoming talks new movie role and wife Angelababy
Chinese actor Huang Xiaoming is starring in League Of Gods with his wife Angelababy, but she plays the love interest of Hong Kong actor Jacky Heung's protagonist.
The 27-year-old Chinese actress plays a puppet named Blue Butterfly.
Not that Huang, 38, minds. He told M in Mandarin in a phone interview from Shanghai: "I'm used to it. I frequently see her in other movies with other actors."
He has never discouraged Angelababy, whom he married last year, from filming passionate scenes as he "respects her decisions".
In League Of Gods, Huang has a guest role as Erlang Shen, a Chinese deity. But pulling off the martial arts scenes proved challenging due to a leg injury he had sustained earlier.
"If I moved a lot, it would hurt... I felt light-headed after every 10 minutes," Huang recalled. "But as an actor, you need to put in your best effort..."
Huang's endurance allowed him to portray one of his two favourite mythical Chinese characters (his other favourite is monkey king Sun Wukong).
He said: "(I like) Erlang Shen because he is a very good character and he has a dog. I really love animals and I have (three) dogs. He also has three eyes and that is special."
Angelababy had a supporting role as pilot Rain Laoin the US blockbuster Independence Day: Resurgence, and Huang is also open to starring in a Hollywood film if the opportunity presents itself.
He said: "If there is a good opportunity, I'll go (to the US). If there isn't, it is okay."
Likewise, he does not have specific plans about starting a family with Angelababy, saying he will "let nature take its course".
