Bowler Yeong-Nathan wins Brunswick Euro Challenge in Munich
National bowler Jasmine Yeong-Nathan finished top at the Brunswick Euro Challenge at the Dream Bowl Palace in Munich, Germany, last week.
The 27-year-old, who clinched the prestigious QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup in 2008, emerged ahead of 65 others in the final with a total of 1,539 pinfalls.
Another Singaporean, 18-year-old Joey Yeo, was second with 1,475 pinfalls, ahead of Danielle McEwan of the United States (1,468).
The performances of 2009 Sportswoman of the Year Yeong-Nathan and Joey - who last month won the Singapore Bowling Federation's Youth Bowler of the Year award - capped off a strong performance by the nation's bowlers in Munich.
New Hui Fen (fifth), Tracy See (sixth), Bernice Lim (eighth) and Cherie Tan (10th) finished in the top 10, with all 12 Singaporeans finishing in the top 35.
A total of 311 female bowlers from 35 countries took part in the Brunswick Euro Challenge. Sweden's 20-year-old Jesper Svensson emerged victorious in the men's category.
