Game of Thrones cast sing about their season in music

A new season (although is it still winter?) is coming.

With Game of Thrones returning next week to HBO for its sixth season, the same question that is asked every season is sure to be hanging over every fan's head – what's going to happen to our favourite characters?

To find out without giving too much away, The New Paper asked several members of the show's ensemble cast to describe their characters' story for the new season – with a song or band.

Sorry, we didn't get Kit Harrington to say whether Jon Snow's season was more This is the End by The Doors or Queen's The Show Must Go On.

Maisie Williams, who plays Snow's half-sister Arya Stark, did describe her season with the unofficial 1998 World Cup song Tubthumping by Chumbawamba.

The 19-year-old said: "What's that song that goes 'I get knocked down, then I get up again'?

"I think that's a really good song for the season for Arya. She gets knocked down a lot of times."

For in-the-wind lovers Samwell Tarly and Gilly, John Bradley opted for Bruce Springsteen's Born to Run – "Because tramps like them, baby, they were born to run," said the Manchester-born actor – while Hannah Murray cryptically described her season using Madonna's Material Girl.

While Iwan Rheon settled on punk rock band Black Flag for the dastardly Ramsay Bolton, the Welsh actor agreed with Michael McElhatton's choice for his on-screen father Roose – a death metal number.

"They'll just sit there together headbanging and laughing, evil-ly," joked Rheon.

And finally – take this with a pinch of salt, mind – veteran actor Jonathan Pryce said that the High Sparrow, together with Dean-Charles Chapman's Tommen Baratheon, will do a song and dance number for the Sparrows.

Not just any dance number – a Billy Elliot-esque dance number. With Pryce as the eponymous ballet dancer from said movie.

We'll only believe it when we see it, Jon.

Game of Thrones Season 6 premieres at the same time as the US on HBO on Monday morning (April 25) at 9am.
