Kane-Alli are Spurs' Vardy-Mahrez, says Richard Buxton
Dynamic duo are Spurs' answer to Leicester's Vardy and Mahrez as they hunt down the Foxes

Forget running on batteries - Tottenham are riding on the crest of a wave in their mission to steal the English Premier League title from Leicester City's clutches.
After a comfortable 3-0 win over Bournemouth this morning (Singapore time), Mauricio Pochettino's side reduced the gap on the Foxes to five points again as the White Hart Lane crowd sent an emphatic message to Claudio Ranieri - we're coming for you.
Pochettino's method behind his recent bout of Europa League madness, playing a weakened team against Borussia Dortmund in midweek, has already begun to pay dividends.
Such affronts to potential silverware invariably attract condemnation but the spectacular fashion in which they exited the Round-of-16 stage of the Europa League held some merit.
Bowing out of three cup competitions, Tottenham now have no distractions as they attempt to down Leicester in the final seven games which will make or break their season.
Fractionally superior in the scoring stakes, Harry Kane's goals look set to be influential should the current five-point gulf that exists between the two sides be cut firmly down to size.
Only once before has the fate of the EPL title been decided by the sheer virtue of goal difference.
Manchester City's margin of eight was enough to pip Manchester United in their own two-horse race back in the 2011-2012 season.
Those margins are likely to be much finer if Tottenham and Kane are to go head to head against Jamie Vardy, his similarly free-scoring opposite number, and company.
FORM OF HIS LIFE
Only a fool would now bet against White Hart Lane's homegrown hero edging out that particular contest.
Kane is in the form of his life and seemingly enjoying every second.
Just 44 seconds into proceedings, Tottenham's masked assassin kicked off the goal trail again.
A 20th of the campaign saw him surpass the Leicester striker as the EPL's current top scorer. It was extended barely a quarter of an hour later, in emphatic fashion.
And therein lies Spurs' not-so-secret weapon.
In Kane and Dele Alli, they have their own answer to Vardy and Riyad Mahrez.
It's true that no player is bigger than a team, as football's time-honoured adage continues to remind us.
But, for all Leicester's endeavour, the pair have risen above the noise to steal both the headlines and the plaudits in this most unlikely of fairy tales.
Kane and Alli, by comparison, may not suit the underdog narrative but the pair are more than capable of matching the blossoming partnership that has been a vital catalyst in the Foxes' surprise surge towards the EPL title.
With the pair at his disposal, Pochettino is increasingly well-positioned to take the fight to Leicester and prevent Tottenham from spending another summer wondering about what might have been.
Whoever blinks first will decide the winning scenario.
