Kiatisuk cautious over second leg against Malaysia
They might have an imposing two-goal lead over Malaysia in the Suzuki Cup final, but Kiatisuk Senamuang will rein in Thailand's cavalier instincts for their away leg fixture on Saturday.
The War Elephants produced some stunning football against the Tigers in the first leg at the Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok on Wednesday, including a mesmerising 27-pass move that nearly resulted in a goal for the Thais.
While the display paid off with a healthy 2-0 win with goals from Charyl Chappuis and Kroekrit Taweekarn, the manager is opting for a different approach for the away match at the Bukit Jalil Stadium.
The Thailand boss, nicknamed Zico after the Brazilian legend, said: "For sure we will play more safely in Kuala Lumpur.
"Malaysia played offensively in the first half as they wanted an away goal. We also attacked which made for an exciting game.
"Both teams want to be champions of Asean and to win, we must play well in Kuala Lumpur.
"Our journey has not ended yet. We must travel to Kuala Lumpur and bring back the champagne for the Thai people."
Should Thailand triumph in Kuala Lumpur, they will equal Singapore's tournament record of four titles.
