'Santa' Van Gaal revels in Christmas spirit: Gives presents to fans before match
He might be the self-described arrogant manager known as the Iron Tulip, but Louis van Gaal sure does know how to create a feel-good factor around a football club.
On Friday night, the veteran Dutch coach was spotted handing out presents to a section of the Old Trafford faithful - ahead of Manchester United's Boxing Day clash against Newcastle United.
In an age where the biggest football clubs seem to be growing distant from their supporters, it's certainly nice to see a manager of van Gaal's stature getting into the festive mood with United fans.
Recently, the Daily Mail reported that van Gaal has been trying to close the gap with the club's fans by making his players more accessible.
In one instance at United's Carrington training ground, Colombian superstar Radamel Falcao was asked to alight from the team bus to sign autographs.
The former Holland and Barcelona boss delivered even more cheer as the Red Devils swept aside their opponents in a 3-1 victory orchestrated by captain Wayne Rooney, who notched a brace and an assist.
At least van Gaal knows where to draw the line when it comes to being charitable towards his opponents - unlike predecessor David Moyes.
