WATCH: Inept stretcher bearers drop injured player twice
You had just one job, guys.
There are Greek tragedies – and then there's Leonardo Koutris.
The Ergotelis midfielder was having a bad day on the pitch during a Greek second division match when he was floored after clattering into a player from AE Larissa.
A stretcher party was then called onto the field after Koutris was checked upon (read: manhandled and dumped unceremoniously onto the floor) by his "concerned" opponent.
But if the stricken player was thinking that help had arrived, he was sadly, sadly mistaken – thanks to the two stretcher bearers who made a total mess of it.
The first hint of their utter lack of a bedside (or in this case, stretcher-side) manner came while Koutris was trying to pick himself up.
Instead of gently ushering or lifting the ailing footballer onto the stretcher, one of Koutris' supposed saviours took it on himself to bundle the injured man over and into place, much akin to a hungry bear bowling over a rubbish can onto the floor.
Obviously, Koutris wasn't impressed and made his feelings known.
With the player's legs still dangling in mid-air off one part of the stretcher, the two attendants then made their attempt to get Koutris off the pitch quickly with minimal fuss.
They failed.
Not once, but twice, as the one in the cap stumbles and falls onto Koutris while trying to regain his footing.
When Laurel and Hardy finally got their act together and actually removed Koutris from the field of play, they had one last indignity to inflict upon their ward.
Yep, you saw it right. They just threw the stretcher and Koutris onto the pitch like a sack of potatoes.
There was more misery for Koutris. His team lost 0-2.
Spare a thought for Koutris as you go about your daily business, will you?
